TIPS TO CONSIDER

  • Do you want to offer an option to ‘repeat the menu’? If so, be sure to include the proper prompt digit.
  • Do you want to offer an option for ‘all other callers’ to press zero or wait on the line? Be sure to NOT mention that in an after-hours greeting unless you have made programming allowances for answering or voice mail.
  • For the most part, less is better, so try to keep the number of options to 4-5 or less.
  • List the most commonly called department or destination first.
